FIRST EVER H5N1 BIRD FLU CASE IDENTIFIED IN CANADA - FATAL

The first ever case of H5N1 Bird Flu has been reported in Canada. Federal public health officials say the case was in Alberta and was fatal. It’s also the first such case of H5N1 in North America. Health Minister Rona Ambrose says the case was an isolated one and that the risk to the general public is very low. She also says there is no evidence of human-to-human transmission. The unidentified victim is thought to have been traveling from China when symptoms first appeared.
