It’s a 15-minute test that could help identify early symptoms of Alzheimer’s. Researcher, Doctor, Douglas Scharre at The Ohio State University, Wexner Medical Center says people who miss six or more points on the 22-point test may have cognitive problems. But he stresses that the self-administered test cannot diagnose dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, just prompt a discussion that could lead to early treatment. Scharre says studies show people who are diagnosed with dementia and start treatment early progress more slowly in their disease. There is no cure for Alzheimer’s disease . The study is published in the January issue of The Journal of Neuropsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences.
