CHRYSLER WITHDRAWS REQUEST FOR TAXPAYER SUBSIDY

After asking for tens of millions of dollars to keep production of the new Chrysler minivan in Windsor, Ontario, the automaker now says it not longer wants the cash. Chrysler says the request was being used as a political football. It says it delivered the news it was withdrawing its request for 700-million dollars in subsidies to both federal and Ontario officials earlier this week. Chrysler had asked the governments for money, as part of an overall investment of 3.6-billion dollars.
