RIFT WIDENS AS NATO CEASES TALKS WITH RUSSIA OVER UKRAINE

The NATO chief says the organization is suspending most of it’s meetings with Russia and is also reviewing all co-operation with Moscow.

Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen says ambassadors for NATO’s 28 member states have decided – after a meeting with their Russian counterpart – to suspend plans for a joint mission as well as all civilian and military meetings.

Rasmussen also says: because of Russia’s military action in Ukraine “the entire range of NATO-Russia co-operation is under review.”

He says NATO will meet with Russian officials at the political level but halting all other interaction “sends a very clear message.”
