Toronto Police Services Board member Andy Pringle has recused himself from any board discussions involving Mayor Rob Ford and his councillor brother.

Pringle is reacting to conflict of interest accusations by the Ford Brothers. Pringle is raising money for John Tory’s mayoral campaign. He was also Chief of Staff when Tory was provincial conservative leader.

The Fords had accused both Pringle and Police Chief Bill Blair of acting to promote Tory’s candidacy. In response to the complaints, Blair turned the ongoing investigation into Mayor Ford over to the OPP.

Doug Ford also filed a complaint about Pringle’s 2012 “getting-to-know-you” fishing trip with Chief Blair. But Pringle says the trip was endorsed by a governance expert at the University of Toronto.

Pringle is the latest in a series of former allies who have earned the wrath of the Ford Brothers. Doug Ford endorsed his membership on the board. Both Ford brothers backed his unsuccessful provincial election bid in 2007.
