Three Canadian-born authors have made the long-list for the Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction.

Margaret Atwood, Eleanor Catton, and Claire Cameron have made the list of 20 writers for the $55,000 award. Atwood is nominated for her latest novel, MaddAddam. Catton is on the list for her Booker Prize-winning novel, The Luminaries. Cameron is nominated for The Bear.

This year’s long list includes six debut novels.

The Bailey’s Women’s Prize was launched in Britain in 1996 to celebrate women writers from around the world. Along with the cash prize, the winner receives a limited edition bronze known as the Bessie. Both parts of the prize are provided by anonymous donors.

The winner will be announced June 4th.
