The last known location of missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370 has been traced to a very small island in the Straits of Malacca. According to a senior official, that’s hundred of kilometres from the usual Kuala Lumpur to Beijing flight path. The official declined to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media. If the data is correct, the aircraft was flying the opposite direction from its scheduled destination and on the opposite side of the Malay Peninsula from its scheduled route. Previous accounts had the aircraft losing touch with air traffic control near the coast of Vietnam. Meanwhile, Interpol has released an image of two Iranians who were traveling with stolen passports on the missing jetliner. Police say the two traveled to Malaysia on Iranian passports, then apparently switched to the stolen Austrian and Italian documents. Interpol says the new information about the men’s identity and use of legitimate Iranian passports makes a terror attack less likely as the reason the plane is missing.
