TORONTO CLEANS UP FROM MAJOR STORM

The GTA is still in recovery mode after yesterday’s heavy dump of snow.

It was the worst March storm in more than three years, which certainly fits the pattern of the winter that is coming to an end next week.

The GTA received 15 centimetres of snow yesterday, and, like a bad house guest, it left behind quite a mess to clean up.

Several tractor trailers have jack-knifed on the 401 west of Toronto. That stretch of highway is very treacherous. Some observers say it doesn’t appear to have been salted, but OPP Sergeant Dave Woodford thinks it’s more a case of blowing snow drifting onto the highway and being packed down by the 18-wheelers.

In town, city crews continue to plow the streets. They say it will take until about noon before they are done.
