A big Altzheimer’s announcement today from Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
The PM says the federal government is supporting five research projects that target the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease and autism.
Harper told a Montreal news conference that it’s important to support the research – because directly or indirectly there’s hardly a Canadian who has not been affected by neurological illness.
The federal funding is part of a public-private partnership that involves the non-profit “Brain Canada Foundation” and two private foundations.
Projects will be headed-up by researchers at The University of Toronto, Mcmaster University, McGill and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
