As of today, visitors to Egypt can tour a life-sized replica of the tomb of fabled king Tutankhamen.
The replica is two metres underground in the Valley of Kings, right next to the home of Howard Carter, the man who discover Tut’s tomb.
It was constructed from detailed three-dimensional scans taken by a Spanish company.
Millions of tourists visit the sites of Egypt’s tombs every year, but access to the actual tombs is severely restricted. Fluctuations in temperature and humidity caused by visitors over the years have caused severe deterioration to the sites.
