Arguments are being prepared in British Columbia in favour of doctor assisted death.  Lawyers for the B.C. Civil Liberties Association have already filed a written statement against an appeal court decision upholding Canada’s ban on assisted death.  Their case will be presented in October.  They will argue before the Supreme Court of Canada, on behalf of the families of people who wanted to die with dignity, that assisted suicide should be legal.

One of the plaintiffs, Lee Carter, whose mother received a doctor-assisted death in Switzerland, says Canadians suffering from chronic conditions should not have to travel abroad to end their pain.
