A star-studded “Lear” is coming to the park.
Annette Bening, Jessica Collins and Jessica Hecht are going to play the sisters – opposite John Lithgow as their addled father -in this summer’s “King Lear” in New York’s Central Park.
“The Public Theater” says Bening will play Goneril, with Collins as Cordelia – and Hecht will play Regan.
Bening has garnered Oscar nominations for her performances in “The Grifters,” ”American Beauty,” ”Being Julie” and ”The Kids Are All Right.”
Performances begin July 22nd and run through August 17th. Daniel Sullivan will direct.
“King Lear” is the second Shakespeare-in- the-Park production, following “Much Ado About Nothing” starring Hamish Linklater and Lily Rabe from June 3rd to July 6th.
