Prince Charles says the need to tackle the challenges of today became clearer for him with the birth of his grandson, George, last year.

The Prince of Wales used a speech in Charlottetown to push for a greater role for the young to find innovative solutions to the world’s problems.

He says the birth of his grandson has sharpened his focus because it’s the grandchildren who will live with the consequences if there isn’t change.

Charles spoke after accepting an honorary Symons Medal for his contribution to Canada.

The prince and wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, are in the midst of a four day tour.

They were in Nova Scotia yesterday and end their visit tomorrow in Winnipeg.

Charles is on the cover of this month’s Zoomer magazine.
