The NDP’s Andrea Horwath did not waste any time.
She came out swinging in Thunder Bay at the first leaders’ debate of the provincial election campaign.
Horwath called the Liberals corrupt and said voters have had it with their lies.
She pointed out how Premier Kathleen Wynne was at the heart of the decision to cancel gas plants in Mississauga and Oakville .
The NDP leader also took a shot at PC Leader Tim Hudak for not showing up, saying that indicates his true feelings about northerners.
Hudak had earlier said his schedule did not allow him to attend the debate.
Former Premier Dalton McGuinty missed the northern debate in the previous election.
His successor, Kathleen Wynne, told the Thunder Bay crowd she was convinced the region would once again become an economic driver of Ontario’s economy.
The premier also blamed high hydro rates on all the money the government invested in the aging electricity system.
