Tim Hudak is trying to make clear that the “vast majority” of the 100,000 Ontario public sector jobs a Progressive Conservative government would eliminate would be through attrition. The Tory Leader is responding to news that there are 19 different unions joining the Liberal party in paying for what he calls American style attack ads.  “Million dollar smear campaigns, they don’t come cheap.  So what’s being promised in return?  And how much is that going to cost … to make the government unions happy, we just can’t afford it,” Hudak questioned.

But last week, in an interview with ZoomerMedia’s Libby Znaimer last week, Hudak admitted it could be costly to cut 100,000 public sector jobs.  “I know it’s in the billions of dollars to make sure that we have a reserve for unintended consequences, whether that’s a severance payment, whether that’s the economy slows down,” Hudak revealed.

There was renewed buzz on the social media site Twitter yesterday about Hudak’s comments to Znaimer.

Hudak visits Richmond Hill, Oakville and London today.  Liberal Premier Kathleen Wynne has stops today in Kingston, Trenton and Pickering.  NDP Leader Andrea Horwath will make four stops, in Essex, London, Brantford and Waterloo.
