Ontario Provincial Police are getting reports of damage due to severe weather in Angus, west of Barrie.

No details were available from OPP Constable Paul Nancekivell but he says the area was hit by a severe storm.

A fire department official in Essa Township says the station was responding to calls about “multiple injuries at different locations.”

Environment Canada had issued tornado warnings for several communities in the area, saying a line of severe thunderstorms with several embedded tornadoes was moving into the Lake Simcoe region.

The storms were said to be bringing wind gusts of over 100 kilometres per hour and large hail was likely.

There has been wild weather occurring throughout southern Ontario.

Environment Canada has issued a number of severe thunderstorm watches and warnings and tornado warnings were issued for  parts of cottage country including Barrie, Collingwood, Orillia and Midland.

Near noon – four golfers were injured after being struck by lightning on a golf course north of Toronto.  Paramedics were called to Bethesda Grange Golf Course, on Warden north of Stouffville Road around 11:40 a.m.

All of the injured men range in age from 51 to 60. Police say one victim is in critical condition and the other three victims are stable.
