It’s too early to say if provincial disaster relief funding will be needed – to help people in Angus rebuild.
That’s the word from Premier Kathleen Wynne who toured the devastation in the community 100 kilometres north of Toronto today.
Wynne says it’s a “miracle ” that no one was seriously hurt.
The premier also met privately with some residents whose homes were damaged by the twister – which sheared off roofs, snapped trees in half and flipped over vehicles.
More than 100 homes sustained damage in the tornado, and building inspectors are still going through them – to determine which ones are safe enough for people to go back home.
Meanwhile – it turns out that two tornadoes touched down in Southern Ontario on Tuesday.
Environment Canada has confirmed that an EF-1 class twister made contact in Stroud – which is south of Barrie.
The weather agency says the Stroud tornado formed at approximately 5:30 pm with winds between 155 and 175 KMH.
The Angus tornado was an EF-2 class with winds up to 220 kmh.
