Mayor Rob Ford is facing another official complaint about his actions just as he prepares to return from rehab.
The national watchdog group, Democracy Watch, has filed a complaint with Toronto’s Integrity Commissioner over two stories first reported in the Globe and Mail.
The paper says that Mayor Ford and his brother, Councillor Doug Ford, used their positions to help companies that had connections with the family business, Deco Labels and Tags. The report says that the Fords arranged meetings between senior bureaucrats and Apollo Beauty and Health Care, and R.R. Donnelly. But they didn’t tell bureaucrats that the two companies had a relationship with Deco.
Democracy Watch alleges that the Fords violated five sections of city council’s code of conduct. The Ottawa-based transparency group has a history of launching actions against politicians across the country.
Ford will be back at city hall on Monday.
