Mayor Rob Ford’s return from rehab hasn’t helped his chances of re-election.

A new poll from Forum Research shows Ford has fallen back into third place in the mayoralty race. Olivia Chow continues to lead with 36%. John Tory has jumped back into second place at 27%. Ford is at 26%.

Karen Stintz and David Socknaki continue to poll in single digits.

If Ford, Stintz, and Socknaki were not in the race, Tory and Chow would be tied.

Forum also found only a third of respondents were satisfied by Ford’s apology on Monday and his explanations for his behaviour. Sixty per cent felt there should have been more.

The number of respondents who think Ford should resign is also up to 62%, while the number of die-hard supporters — the so-called Ford Nation — has dropped to 25% from 29.

The telephone poll of 1,182 residents was taken Wednesday. It’s considered accurate to within three percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
