What’s a World Cup without Placido Domingo?

Practically unheard-of.

The great Spanish tenor will give a concert in Rio de Janeiro on July 11th. A devoted soccer fan, Domingo has performed at practically every World Cup since the first Three Tenors concert in Rome in 1990.

Domingo is such a big fan that his smart-phone is emblazoned with the emblem of his favourite team, Real Madrid.

He says his concert will be a mix of opera classics, Broadway show-tunes, Spanish and Brazilian favourites.

Placido Domingo says, with Spain out of the competition, he will be cheering for host Brazil.
