”If I was Nik Nanos, I’d be embarrassed to release a poll like that,” says Doug Ford, manager of his brother’s re-election campaign.

The latet Nanos survey puts John Tory in first with 39 % voter support, Olivia Chow second with about 33 % and Ford with 22 %.

Councillor Ford refers to other surveys, ”Forum shows that they’re neck-and-neck, our polling shows pretty well everyone’s within a few points of each other.  To put out in my opinion, a fictitious poll … all of a sudden (John) Tory jumps 18 points ahead.  I usually don’t comment about polls but this one I have to because I don’t believe this…”

Pollster Nanos says the reality is Doug Ford has a problem.

“The Fords are political professionals.  The first step … is to recognize when you have a problem and not to deny it.  So, you know, they should embrace these poll results and use them to jump start their campaign to kind of re-engage voters.”

As for Ford’s rivals, John Tory is keeping an even keel.

”Polls will come and polls will go.”

Olivia Chow says the poll will not impact her campaign.

”No. I really am enjoying meeting people from every corner of the city.  I get hugs, I get lots of photos and ideas.”
