The provincial government has confessed it will not achieve its target of reducing auto insurance rates by 8% next month.
But the Liberals say they are on track to achieve a 15% reduction in two years.
Finance Minister Charles Sousa blames the opposition for failing to meet the target. The bill that would reduce rates and change the way the towing industry works died on the order paper when the NDP triggered the election.
But Conservative finance critic Vic Fedeli says the Liberals have no one to blame but themselves. He dismisses their complaints about the opposition as being something close to “the dog ate my homework,” and that they haven’t done enough to reduce fraud in the insurance industry.
With the Liberal majority, the bill is guaranteed to pass this time.
