It’s going to be a great weekend of activities in and around Toronto this weekend, but it’s not likely to be a great weekend trying to get anywhere. The Honda Indy has closed Lakeshore Boulevard from one end of the CNE grounds to the other. Combined with the long-term construction on the Gardiner Expressway, getting to and from the Indy by car is going to be a challenge. In addition, there are several festivals underway this weekend that will cause road closures. The “Live Green Toronto Festival” will close Yonge Street from Dundas to Queen Saturday. A “Youth Day” event will close the same stretch of Yonge Street Sunday. “Big on Bloor” will shut Bloor Street down between Dufferin and Landsdown From Saturday at 9:00 AM until Sunday at 9:00 PM. “Thrill of the Grill” will close Danforth from Broadview to Jackman from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday. The “Chinatown Festival” will close Dundas from Spadina to Beverley all day Sunday and the “Caribbean Carnival’s Junior Parade”, will mean road closures Saturday afternoon in the area of Neilson Road in Scarborough. Those attending weekend events and festivals are encouraged to take the TTC to get around the city and GO Transit to get in and out of Toronto.
