The Prime Minister will not take up the ice bucket challenge.

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio nominated Stephen Harper to be doused with ice cold water.

DiCaprio was in northern Alberta last week visiting the oilsands to do research for an environmental documentary.

A spokesman for the Prime Minister says he has already been challenged a number of times and has opted to donate money to ALS research instead. US President Barack Obama did the same when he was challenged.

Thousands of people have posted videos of themselves getting buckets of ice water dumped over their heads and challenging others to do the same, or donate money, to the ALS Association. ALS Canada has raised more than five million dollars since the challenge began.
