They say artists must suffer for their art.

But the Danish National Chamber Orchestra has taken it to an extreme.

The ensemble took up the challenge by a comedian who goes by the name of Chili Klaus to play while consuming the world’s hottest chili peppers.

They began playing “Tango Jalousie” by Danish composer Jacob Gade. Then, part-way through the piece, they paused and popped one of three fiery peppers …. the Carolina Reaper, the Ghost Pepper, and the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Blend.

Then, with eyes streaming, and faces getting redder by the moment, they stoically continued playing.

Then all rushed for the nearest water fountain.

The video of the stunt has gone viral. It’s a farewell performance by the Danish National Chamber Orchestra that’s disbanding after 75 years.
