Ottawa says it’ll conduct a clinical trial of the made-in-Canada Ebola vaccine in Halifax.
That’s not sitting well with scientists at the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg who helped create it.
They’d hoped the trial would be held in Manitoba so they could volunteer, in the hopes it would protect them in their work.
The trial’s one of several being conducted on the vaccine.
Meanwhile, a top official with the World Health Organization says there are lots of experimental interventions but that none’s been thoroughly evaluated.
Dr. Martin Friede, who’s in charge of WHO’s work to finding an Ebola drug, says ”We don’t have a lot of drugs in our pipeline that look promising.”
His comments follow a meeting of medical experts this week on how to test potential drugs in Africa.
