The Ontario New Democratic Party kicks off its 2014 convention Friday in Toronto where Andrea Horwath’s leadership will come under an automatic review. Members will also hear and flesh out details of the goals and strategies of their next election campaign. Horwath has come under fire from some of the party faithful over the outcome of this year’s spring election which saw the Liberals win a majority while the NDP finish third with 21 but lost the balance of power it held in the previous Liberal minority government. Horwath admits she’s learned lessons from the election which was triggered when she refused to support the Liberal’s spring budget. It’s understood, Horath will need the support of at least 67 per cent of the delegates to hang on to her leadership. The convention runs through Sunday.
