Hope you enjoyed the break from the bitterly cold weather we’ve had recently – because frigid temperatures are coming back.
And the City of Toronto has issued another extreme cold weather alert – as Environment Canada predicts a big wave of cold air will send temperatures down to -25 with the wind chill.
Cold weather alerts from the city trigger services for the homeless – such as 24-hour drop in warming centres, increased shelter beds and street outreach services.
The city also encourages residents to check on vulnerable neighbors and friends – to see if they’re doing all-right during extreme weather.
Toronto’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Doctor David McKeown , says hypothermia occurs when the body’s temperature drops below 35C – and that can lead to severe health consequences.
