Toronto Mayor John Tory’s honeymoon with the voters is continuing. A new Main Street Technologies poll shows Tory’s overall approval rating at 73% compared with 51% for city council in general. The study also finds Torontonians split on Tory’s decision to study the privatization of garbage collection east of Yonge Street, an issue he campaigned on. In addition more than half those surveyed do not agree with the mayor’s plan to extend the Scarborough subway by only three stops. By comparison, at the height of his popularity, former Mayor Rob Ford, scored in the 50% range.
