A ruling is expected today on whether convicted terrorist Omar Khadr can be released on bail. The Toronto-born, former Guantanamo Bay inmate is seeking release pending an appeal against a conviction for war crimes in the United States. The 28-year old is currently in prison in Alberta serving out an eight-year sentence handed down by a U.S. military commission in 2010. Khadr confessed to killing a U.S. service man during a fire fight in Afghanistan when he was 15 years old. Khadr later recanted the confession.
