With the team logo and the words ”Welcome to Toronto, Mike,” as a backdrop the Maple Leafs formally introduced the 30th head coach in team history.

Mike Babcock

Mike Babcock said he felt like he was  25-year old, ”scared to death” but also excited about the opportunity and looking forward to the challenge.

”At 52 I’m not ready to die I want to get on with it here …This is a great, great city, unbelievable fans and it’s the Maple Leafs.  And I’m proud to be here today and I look forward to the process, the battle, the pain, the fun, the journey and it’s going to be a long one, but it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Babcock adds he’s had a lot of opportunities to coach Canada’s teams but believes the Leafs are Canada’s team and ”we need to put Canada’s team back on the map.”
