Islamic State terrorists have apparently seized another town in Anbar province, less than a week after capturing the provincial capital of Ramadi.

A tribal leader said today the small town of Husseiba fell overnight.  Sheikh Rafie al-Fahdawi says police and tribal fighters withdrew after running out of ammunition.

The Iraqi government plans to launch a counter-offensive in Anbar involving Iranian-backed Shiite militias, which have played a key role in rolling back the Islamic State group elsewhere in the country.

In Syria meantime, Islamic State terrorists are said to be combing Palmyra, detaining and killing dozens of people two days after seizing the historic Syrian town.

Governor Talal Barazi of the central province of Homs, which includes Palmyra, said today that ISIL fighters have abducted men and “might have committed massacres.”

The Islamic State group has massacred hundreds of Syrian and Iraqi soldiers following past conquests, often boasting about the killings online.
