Mental Health issues have been an ongoing problem among staff at Toronto Paramedic Services, however the City of Toronto Ombudsman has started an investigation that hopes address some of the problems.

Ombudsman Fiona Crean says the investigation was prompted by a number of complaints that have been filed to her office.

She contends there is increasing evidence that the stress on the job affects paramedics’ mental and emotional health, including incidents of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Crean is hopeful that more Toronto paramedics will come forward to tell their stories
