Lawyers for the federal government were back in a Toronto court today.
They reason is to fight a request for an injunction that would suspend part of the Harper government’s Fair Elections Act.
The lawyers argue that people using voter information cards as valid I-D at the polls run the risk of fraud and detract from public confidence in the electoral system.
The Council of Canadians and the Canadian Federation of Students want the court to restore Canada’s chief electoral officer’s power to recognize voter information cards as valid I-D in time for the fall election.
