Some unpleasant news for online cheaters…
Adultery website Ashley Madison dot com has been hacked, potentially exposing names, addresses and sexual preferences of millions of people.
According to cyber security blog KREBS ON SECURITY, a group or individual called “The Impact Team” has claimed responsibility for the attack and has already leaked maps of company servers, staff information and company bank accounts.
The hackers wrote on the Ashley Madison home page they will publish the stolen information unless the site is taken off line.
The online company says the attack into its system was criminal and unprovoked. It has since apologized and says an investigation is underway, and that a top IT security team has been hired to close the gaps. However, tech analysts say this will do little good if the hackers have transferred the data elsewhere.
