Melbourne, Australia won for the fifth straight year.
The list, compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit with the Economist magazine, does have three Canadian cities in the top five.
Vancouver was third, Toronto fourth, Calgary tied Adelaide, Australia for fifth.
Vienna was second.
The report ranks 140 cities based on living conditions and challenges affecting lifestyles.
In January, the Economist named Toronto as best city to live in based on its top 25 list ranking ”index of indexes,” that measures things like safety, livability and cost.
