A ceasefire has been proposed by the battling sides in the eastern Ukraine conflict.
They have called for the fighting to stop on September first – when the school year is to begin.
The Organization For Security And Co-operation In Europe says the combatants have “agreed to jointly verify the fulfilment of this initiative.”
A Trilateral Contact Group includes representatives from Ukraine, the OSCE and Russia. Representatives of the Russia-backed eastern Ukraine separatist rebels also take part in the group.
Comprehensive cease-fires have been declared twice over the past year – but have been widely violated.
The conflict has killed more than 6,400 people.
