Police blew up a suspicious package on the GO tracks near Exhibition station just after 6pm.
That cleared the way for service to resume – after a huge delay on most of the GO system that began at the start of the rush hour.
Some suspended trains began running again just before 7pm – but delays are not expected to clear fully until about 9 o’clock.
The problem was a nightmare for GO and all passengers concerned – with more than 100,000 commuters facing disruption – causing a massive crush of people inside and outside Union Station.
