ETFO FUMING OVER SCHOOL BOARDS' STATEMENT ON STATUS OF TALKS

The premier says there’s a lot of frustration over the fact the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario still does not have a tentative agreement.
ETFO is upset the Public School Boards Association put out a statement saying there’s been progress in negotiations but that they’ve stalled over two issues – sick leave and benefits.
The teachers union claims it’s undermined any goodwill and progress made at the bargaining table and that it would re-evaluate how it was going to proceed.

But Kathleen Wynne says ”parents don’t know why there isn’t a resolution to this.  I think that out of the frustration that the boards are feeling, they wanted to put information into the public realm that demonstrated that there had been movement.”
The premier adds the good news is that there are only two issues left to be resolved.
ETFO president Sam Hammond says the union’s waiting for the call to reconsider the latest offer and return to bargaining, but instead the boards’ ”used the media to sidestep the negotiations.”
