Toronto homeowners can expect to be hit with an 8 percent water rate increase and a 3 percent garbage rate hike.

Members of the city’s budget committee met today to start the process for Toronto’s waste and water budgets.

Next Friday Toronto residents will have a chance to weigh in about the proposed increases – at a public meeting.
