Ontario will be paying more for carbon emissions under the Wynne government, with cap and trade coming to Ontario, but there are still many uncertainties as to how much it will reduce emissions.
The cost is also unknown, as is what exactly the government will do with the money it generates.
Keith Brooks with Group Environmental Defense estimates the cap and trade will net the province about 2 billion a year by 2020.
The group wants the government to use the money to re-invest in environmental programs, ones that will help reduce green house gases even more than now.
The governement promises to release the climate change strategy this fall.
