A report has been released saying women hold 19.5 per cent of the seats on the boards of Canada’s biggest companies by revenue.  That is up from 17.1 per cent in 2014.

Canada seems to be heading in the right direction, but Canadian Board Diversity Council founder Pamela Jeffery says the pace of change is too slow.

The increase comes out of a new “comply or explain” policy that forces publicly traded companies to disclose certain statistics around the representation of women on their boards and in executive officer positions.

Securities regulators from every province and territory except for Alberta, Prince Edward Island, and B-C set the rules at the end of last year.
