Canadians will learn Tuesday how the Trudeau government plans to help resettle 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of the year.
Immigration Minister John McCallum is appealing to Canadians to come forward if they can offer a place for refugees to stay once the plan kicks in.
Settlement agencies who’ll be responsible for the longer-term integration of refugees have been awaiting the details, however last week’s attacks in Paris are believed to have slowed the rollout of the plan.
The program, which may cost as much as $1.2-billion the next six years, will involve several government departments as well as the military, with the aim to take in some of the most vulnerable who’ve fled the fighting in Syria the last four years.
