A plan by the governing Liberals at Queen’s Park to allow vaping and smoking of medical marijuana anywhere and anytime is being reconsidered.

Associate Health Minister Dipika Damerla has quickly reversed course over concerns about exposure to second hand cannabis smoke in restaurants, theatres, offices and other public spaces where tobacco smoking is banned

“We’ve received feedback on the proposed regulations that’s been posted, so in light of that feedback, we want to take a look at the regulations, and see if it’s the best way forward for Ontario,” Damerla explained to reporters.

About 23,000 Canadians use medical marijuana under doctors’ prescriptions.

The controversial Ontario policy would have exempted medical marijuana from new e-cigarette restrictions taking effect January 1st, which ban their use in non-smoking areas.
