Torontonians are invited this week to drop in and check out the major restoration work at St. Michael’s Cathedral.
Neil McCarthy is the Cathedral’s Director of Public Relations and says it’s an opportunity to meet some of the artisans working on the project.
“It’s really almost like going to a museum, getting a chance to meet the people working on the stone, the roof, people who are working on the bronze doors, the stained glass windows. It’s a fascinating glimpse into the huge restoration effort that’s been ongoing for the last number of years,” McCarthy told Zoomer Radio News.
One of the new features is a 10-15 foot excavation to create a chapel for 350 people.
The Open House is today and tomorrow from 10 am to 7 pm. St. Michael’s Cathedral is located at 200 Church Street in Toronto.
A completion date for the entire project has been set for September of 2016.
