Five very special concerts between Christmas and New Years for hundreds of very special people. It’s the dream of 60-something Zoomer Dmitri Kanovich who emigrated from Russia a number of years ago.
He’s paying for each performance by a 25 year old award- winning Russian pianist, Lukas Geniusas. The concerts are by invitation only and, generally, in front of an audience of not more than 200 people.
They will be held at St. Joseph’s, Sunnybrook, and Sick Kids hospitals, The Baycrest Centre and the Kingston Penitentiary.
Kanovich sees his motivation as a pay-back to his chosen home and an attempt to bring classical music to those who might not actually seek it out.
