The holidays are all about fun and celebrations, but the OPP wants to remind you to be safe.

On Goldhawk Fights Back Thursday, OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says the RIDE safety blitz is underway and since the beginning of November, more than 800 people have been taken off the road due to excessive alcohol consumption in Ontario.

42 people have died in crashes involving impaired drivers in Ontario this year.

But Schmidt warns that’s not including some of the other issues like speeding and aggressive driving.

“We get these reports of drivers going more than 200 km/h on the highway with trucks and cars weaving (in traffic) thinking it’s a thrill and having fun, but they’re putting everyone at risk.”
