Dan Haggerty, who portrayed a gentle mountain man first in the 1974 movie ”The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams,” and then in a brief TV series of the same name, has died of cancer.

The 74-year-old Haggerty had been battling cancer discovered last year after surgery for back pain.

His manager says Haggerty had a great Thanskgiving and a great Christmas and died with his kids around him and those who live him.

”Grizzly Adams” ran two seasons ending in 1978.

Haggerty then made guest appearances on shows like ”CHiPs,” ”Charlie’s Angels,” and ”The Love Boat”.
