Ottawa has laid out criteria for all new resource projects – including the need for decisions based on science- and input from indigenous communities.

The revised policy from the federal government  will apply to the proposed TransMountain oil pipeline in British Columbia – as well as the Energy East pipeline.

The hearings on Kinder Morgan’s TransMountain twinning project have almost finished – and the Trudeau government is extending the deadline for a decision by four months – moving it to next December.

Enbridge’s Energy East project will see its review period extended by an extra six months.

That means a decision on Energy East isn’t expected before the middle of 2018.
