Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a doubling of the Canada Summer Jobs program during a visit to the Dovercourt Boys and Girls Club in Toronto.
The government will invest an additional $113-million over three years with the aim of creating another 35,000 jobs.
”Yes we’re building a stronger future for them but we’re also building a stronger present.
We know that summer jobs are critical for young people. Not only is this good for them, it’s good for the broader economy now and in the years to come.”
The prime minister, who’s also minister of youth, says the boost to the jobs program ”isn’t the sum total” of the government’s investment in young Canadians, pointing out others would be apparent in the upcoming budget.
